Efficacy of Intra Hydrocare against COVID-19 (Corona virus)

COVID-19 could spread through the AIR even after a patient has left the room

COVID-19 is an enveloped virus that probably originate from animals and is currently further transmitted between humans. The exact route of transmission is still under investigation. However it is clear that the small water droplets (aerosols) expelled during sneezing and coughing by patients contain virus particles and be a source of infection.

Personal hygiene measures are the first step in preventing the spread of viruses. Next to that, it is important to regularly clean and disinfect surfaces that may be contaminated and thereby act as transmission route. This requires a disinfectant that is able to effectively kill the pathogens.

Intra Hydrocare is a disinfectant with virucidal efficacy under clean and dirty condition. The definition of a virocidal biocide is to reduce the amount of viruses with a log 4, this is a 10,000-fold reduction.

Intra Hydrocare is a unique and strong broad spectrum disinfectant based on hydrogen peroxide and chelated silver. This type of formulations are also called silver stabilized peroxides. Both components have a synergistic effect also against viruses. Intra Hydrocare have been used globally for disinfection drinking systems, hard surfaces in various areas such as industry, intensive livestock industry, medical facilities, ships and residential homes.

Intra Hydrocare is also used for decontamination and disinfection by fogging. Especially because an important transmission route of the corona virus is airborn aerosols caused by couching, it is important to disinfect the air in rooms where carriers of the virus were present.

Protocol for disinfection

Use 2% of Intra Hydrocare with a 10 minute contact time, spray it on hard surfaces at a rate of 200 ml/m2 using either a trigger spray bottle, a low pressure sprayer, sponge or floor mop. For equipment disinfection, the equipment can be washed in disinfectant
solution or sprayed and then wiped clean with a cloth or sponge. Take the necessary safety measures like googles and masks.

Air disinfection

Another option is fogging. With fogging you eliminate airborne virus particles as well as virus particles that precipitated on the surfaces. Make sure the room is clear of people.

The protocol is as follows:

  1. Make sure that the room is closed.
  2. Take the necessary safety measures like goggles and masks.
  3. Make a dilution of 2% of Intra Hydrocare.
  4. Use a fogger and fog at a rate of 35 ml/min during 15 minutes.
  5. Wait 1 hour and ventilate the room thoroughly.
